Among numerous recognitions, Senator Lucio has received the Heritage Award from the Harlingen Chamber of Commerce in 2009. Also that year, he was presented the Rural Partner Award by the Association of Rural Communities in Texas (ARCIT), the Rising Star Award by the Texas Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies (TALHFA), and the Visionary Leader Award by the Combined Law Enforcement Agencies of Texas (CLEAT).
He was also named to the Legislative Honor Roll–1st Legislative Session–by Texas Watch and received Outstanding Service Recognition by the Office of Rural Community Affairs.
